Shell Cottage and Dobby’s grave
Freshwater West supplied the wild coastal setting for Shell Cottage and Dobby's final scenes in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. The cottage was a temporary film set and has been removed, so visitors come for the recognisable beach rather than a surviving building.

Freshwater West is on the B4319 west of Castlemartin. The coordinates lead to the main beach access near the public toilets rather than to a permanent Shell Cottage set.
Pembroke is the nearest railway station, around eight miles away. Local buses serve the Angle area but are not frequent enough for every visit, so plan the final leg carefully or use a pre-booked taxi.
Check tide and weather conditions before walking the beach. This is an exposed surf beach with strong currents, and swimming should only take place within current safety guidance.
The beach and car park are free and normally open from dawn to dusk. There is no admission, recreated cottage or official Dobby memorial attraction.
The National Trust provides small free car parks open from dawn to dusk. They fill quickly when the surf is good or during holidays; do not block the narrow road, farm gates or emergency access.
The easiest access is from the car park beside the toilets using a steep concrete ramp. Sand levels can leave a step at the bottom, and the beach, dunes and other paths are uneven and unsuitable for many wheelchairs.
There are toilets at the beach car park and seasonal catering may operate nearby. This is a protected landscape: take photographs but leave no socks, painted stones or other objects, and take all litter home.
