Hardwick Hall's imposing Elizabethan exterior became Malfoy Manor in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1. The filmmakers enhanced its silhouette digitally, but the symmetrical façade, tall windows and surrounding estate are unmistakable.

Hardwick is around eight miles south-east of Chesterfield. By road, leave the M1 at junction 29 and follow brown signs to the estate entrance and visitor car park.
Chesterfield is the nearest main railway station. Public transport for the final leg is limited: local or on-demand buses leave a substantial walk, so a taxi is the practical car-free option.
The hall is reached from visitor reception along estate paths. An on-demand accessible buggy can carry visitors between reception, the Stableyard, Hardwick Hall and the Old Hall.
The house, garden and wider estate are paid National Trust visitor areas, with different ticket options. Opening hours vary between the hall, gardens and facilities, and upper rooms may close earlier than the estate.
The visitor car park is included with admission and uses the site's current payment or member check-in system. More than ten accessible bays are near visitor reception, and a drop-off or buggy service is available.
There is step-free access to the gardens and ground floor of the hall, plus accessible buggies, wheelchairs and mobility vehicles to borrow. Upper floors of the historic hall are reached only by several flights of stairs; a virtual room guide is available downstairs.
The Stableyard has a restaurant, shop, bookshop, toilets, an accessible toilet and a Changing Places facility. Picnic areas and seating are available around the estate.
