The Making of Harry Potter

A behind-the-scenes tour through authentic Harry Potter sets, costumes and props at the studios where all eight films were made. Visitors enter the original Great Hall set, built for Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone and used for filming in seven of the eight films, before exploring sets including Diagon Alley and seeing the Hogwarts Express up close.

Getting there

For public transport, take a train from London Euston to Watford Junction. Direct trains can take around 20 minutes, followed by the included electric shuttle bus to the Studio Tour, which takes about 15 minutes.

By road, the attraction is less than three miles from Junction 6 of the M1 and Junctions 19 or 20 of the M25. Follow the brown attraction signs as you approach Leavesden.

Opening and price

This is a paid, timed-entry attraction and every ticket must be booked in advance; tickets are not sold at the door. Opening times and prices vary by date, so check availability and the official calendar before arranging transport. The average visit lasts approximately three and a half hours.

Parking

Standard parking is free and a short walk from the entrance. Blue Badge bays are available close to the entrance, while paid priority parking must be booked online in advance. Every vehicle needs a valid booking confirmation to enter the car park.

Accessibility

Most of the Studio Tour is suitable for wheelchairs, although original-set surfaces and narrow areas—including parts of Diagon Alley, the Great Hall and Hogwarts Express—can be difficult or inaccessible. Accessible toilets, a Changing Places facility, sensory support and free essential-companion tickets are available; check the detailed access guide before booking.

There are cafés, toilets, accessible facilities, baby-changing areas, shops, complimentary Wi-Fi and a free cloakroom. You may also bring food to eat in the Backlot or outdoor picnic areas.
